Look what came in the mail today!!!

When I went to the mailbox this morning I found the package I had been waiting for. It is from Vicki at http://vicki-2bagsfull.blogspot.com.I couldn't wait to open the box for I knew what was inside but I didn't know how beautiful it would be.

She had it wrapped and with a beautiful handmade hang tag.

The paper had birds nest all over it, just a hint of what was to come.

She had paper stuffed inside so the nest would not be crushed and the little eggs would not be broken

Once it was out of the packing all I had to do was fluff it up just a little.

The details are so beautiful. It had 2 little blue eggs and a lot of nesting material. Vicki said it would be "to die for" and it is.

The beauty almost took my breath away...... I just couldn't wait to find that special place to put it so that everyone who came in would see it. First I tried the curio cabinet but decided that it would not be seen there unless I keep the light on all the time so next I tried the dining room table. What do you think?

I put it on a ceramic cake plate and it almost covered the entire top.

Thank you Vicki. I will think of you everytime I pass by. It is just a beautiful breath of spring right in the middle of my dining room table. Vicki you are the greatest.

Hope everyone has a blessed day.

Who did I find today?

Today I went to a local antique store, Apple Barrel Antiques, to inquire about renting a space. After talking to the young man I decided to walk around and look. Maybe I would find something with cherries on it.

I found all these little teddy bears looking for a new home.

All sorts of pottery, glassware, pictures, dishes, old canning jars, just a little bit of everything.

Looking toward the front of the store from upstairs

Looking toward the back of the store from upstairs. There were old beds, quilts, dressers, cradles, some shabby chic and some very old things. And then as I turned the corner to go back downstairs there HE stood in all his glory in that white outfit we all remember him in and looked like he was singing. I wanted to take him home but where would I put him. I will just have to see.

You see ladies Elvis is still around after all these years, he's been living upstairs in the antique store on Hwy 78 in Oxford, Al.

Everyone have a blessed day until next time.

Homemade Laundry Detergent

Open the lid on this vintage breadbox and what do you find? Homemade laundry detergent. I got the recipe from a blog I follow - The Beehive Cottage. Go over and visit Maryjane sometime, she would love to hear from you.

It is easy to make with a few simple ingredients and does a wonderful job on the laundry. Couldn't wait to use it after all my work. We also use white vinegar instead of fabric softener and NO it does not make your clothes smell like vinegar.

These are the ingredients I used
1 1/3 bars Pink Zote Soap
4 lb. box of Borax
4 lbs. of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda
4 lbs. of Arm & Hammer Washing Soda

Grate the Pink Zote Soap and mix together with the other ingredients in a large container. Store in something that is air tight. This will make enough detergent to do about 150 loads because you only use 2 Tbs. per load so it only cost about 8 1/2 cents. The laundry will smell almost like it has been hung out on a line to dry.

This is one of the signs hanging in my laundry room.
LET'S GO DO SOME LAUNDRY!!

Have a blessed day until next time.
